Every two weeks a new set of catalogs are released, and new sales too. I would search through the catalog and look for all the items that said "LOWEST PRICE EVER" or "LOWEST PRICE THIS YEAR" I would calculate the savings then I would calculate my actual cost. For Example if a $38 face cream was on sale for $21.99 and I earned a 40% discount it would cost me $13.19 (before tax). When a customer would purchase this item at regular price in a couple of campaigns I would make $24.81 profit on this sale. That meant I earned 65.3% on that one item. I made sure that I always ordered enough product to get to the 40% discount (or earning) on my orders. I always purchased 100+ catalogs every campaign (two weeks) and made sure I left them in prime locations around town. I would leave them wherever people sat around and waited for a service... like a car repair shop, beauty parlor, nail salon, doctors offices, dental offices, restaurant waiting areas... and more. If I did not have enough customer orders to get me to the 40% earnings I would purchase just enough inventory to get there.
I kept adding new customers one by one through referrals or by them seeing one of my catalogs. On occasion I would get online orders too which helped me get closer to my 40%. By the time my daughter was born in September, I had enough customers to get me to the 40% earnings without even trying and I was able to quit my job and be the full time Avon mom I wanted to be. Christmas time for me was always the easiest time to get sales, I made it through the end of the year without having to purchase any inventory to get my 40% earning and I was able to sell a lot of inventory at a huge profit. I did not make presidents club the first year but I was in business to make money not "buy in to presidents club".
In 2015, I increased my business campaign by campaign and I made sure I left catalogs in all the same public places and even added a few new places. By the end of the year I made it to presidents club! I was so excited!! Not only was I a stay at home mom but I was also making great money with Avon and meeting new people and helping others start there Avon businesses too. I was really excited because I did not even purchase unnecessary inventory to get there. I did however examine my customers buying patterns and learned what items I could stock up on at the lowest price ever to resell at an opportune time for maximum profit. I also purchased items to keep my cash and carry tote well stocked to have with me at all times for on the spot purchases. You would be surprised at how many customers needed last minute mascara, lipstick, deodorant, hand lotion, and eyeliner from me and I was able to save the day. I also stocked up on my inventory for vendor events and last minute gifts.
In 2016, I increased my business even more and at the end of the year I received a bronze award for forth best in sales increase from 2015 to 2016. I always took time out to help fellow Avon team members and members of other teams too and I was awarded with the "Spirit of Avon" award. It was a shock for me but I was very grateful.
There are many Avon reps who seem to have overnight success and people often wonder if that can really happen. When you start an Avon business you have the opportunity to work as little or as hard as you want. I have been growing slow and steady because I want to be there for my daughter and not miss out on any of the joys of parenthood. I could easily find a baby sitter and work really hard, but that is not what I want to do. The beauty of this business is that when my daughter starts school in three years, I can avoid going back to corporate America and focus even more on my Avon business. I love having the flexibility and the perks that come along with the Avon opportunity. There is always a fun incentive to work toward, this month there is a beautiful Avon charm bracelet. Earlier this year there was a trip inventive to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. I love my Avon business, and I love mentoring my Avon team members to help them reach there goals.
